Smudge-proof labels

Smudge-proof labels (known in Turkey as Japanese smudge-proof labels) have a specially treated surface that stops ink from running when it meets water or oil. They keep text and print readable in wet, oily or damp conditions.

We choose the adhesive for the environment: permanent, cold-storage or removable. The choice depends on the surface material, the storage temperature and whether the label will need to be peeled off later.

Yes. The surface accepts writing and the ink does not run when it gets wet. That makes it a good fit for hand-written notes, dates or lot numbers, especially in damp or cold storage.

They are used on olive oil, sauce and other oily food packaging, chemical and cleaning products, frozen and cold-chain goods, and on laboratory sample containers. What they share is contact with water, oil or moisture.

With the right adhesive they hold permanently on glass, plastic and metal. Oily, rough or cold surfaces may call for a different adhesive type, so it helps to tell us about your packaging.

A standard paper label can let ink run when wet, and it may darken as it absorbs oil. On a smudge-proof label, the surface treatment keeps writing and print readable under water and oil. The gap is clearest in wet conditions.
